Route Notes BC at road C3 at North Col C4 on North Ridge C5 just below North Ridge on North Face. C3 made only on 21st Sept after other Korean (NE Ridge) team had fatal accident & ceremony attended; Park had serious stomach problem which needed help. Now NE Ridge & [two Korean] teams climbing together. 1st summit bid on 9th by 2 members & 1 Sherpa, turned back at 2nd Step for lack of rope & ladder. 2nd attempt on 14th & successful. In descent Jo oxygen finished & very slow. Zangbu fell in descent & from 8800m (was ahead of Jo): slipped on small avalanche & fell 3000m down Great Couloir (body not recovered because not much left to find after 3000m fall, which was watched from N Col). Jo & Lee Seok-Bu made 1st attempt, Lee got frostbitten fingers & Lee & Kang left early.
Accidents Park critical stomach perforation & appendicitis; Jo slight frostbite
