Route Notes BC as same as all others C2 high in Western Cwm C3 on Lhotse Face C4 at South Col. Left C4 at 12:45 am of 9th all 5 together: 1st 3 to summit used no oxygen at all; Bishop from C3 up and down to C4 and to top and back to C4 and sleeping in C4 again. Lobsang made trail and others followed close behind. 9th May Goryl arrived at C4, stayed till 13th because of winds; left 3 am, on top 12:40, last that day to summit (used oxygen from C3 to C4, was on oxygen at 2 liter/min all day and all night, scavanging old bottles and use 30-40 bottles from previous expeditions at C4 and used to summit. Clean-up efforts: bounty a trash (Rs 100-150/10 kg) brought from BC area - paid Rs 300 per oxygen bottle C4->C2 and 100-150 C2->BC. Got 5000 pounds trash off mountain and away from BC. Spent $2000+ Got 250 bottles off mountain by Sherpas descending after carrying loads. Gave Sherpas income without making go up just for trash. Hope to continue this program next up and thus get Sherpas to demand such bounty in future. Still couple thousand at col now after this team paid for 260 from col (60 only to C2) - exceeding total rubbish removal goal of 2000 lbs by 3000 lbs. Lobsang Jangbu told team that he used oxygen in spring 1993 (with Indian women's expedition) while sleeping in C4.
