Route Notes BC at road (end of East Rongbuk Glacier) ABC at East Rongbuk Glacier C1 at North Col C2 at North Spur on North Ridge. Planned to have summit bid on 25th May but on 24th wind too strong to move up to make C3 and with rigid time table, it was necessary to go down. Bass - 6 May 93 Bass left BC 1 May. Expedition camps: BC 21 April at 5200m C1 pitched at 5800m ABC pitched at 6400m C3 being reached at North Col Bass used oxygen his last day at mountain as he had severe case of HAPE. Yaks to arrive ABC 26 May to remove loads for withdrawal from mountain.
