| Route Notes | BC at normal site C2 in Western Cwm C3 on Lhotse Face C4 at Col at 3:00 pm. 24th April was planned for 1st summit attempt but Tourism Ministry said team's Sherpas must search for Mrs Pasang Lhamu, Nepali team leader and 2 went up to about 8400m but no higher because wind (1 Sherpa from SW team and 1 from Pasang Lhamu team also went to search). Ministry said if not searching, permit cancelled. 24th stayed at Col while 2 Sherpas to C2; 25th others down. 2nd summit bid from Col on 5th May planned but only to col on 4th May and down same day. 3rd summit bid on 10 May by 3 members and 4 Sherpas and all to top; left C4 2:00 am, reached top 10:45 am and return C4 3:15 pm and members slept there while 4 Sherpas to C2, leaving only members in C4 (2 Sherpas snowblind and other 2 helping). No more summit bids because think dangerous from weather; also had been climbing long time and very tired; Col tents all broken by very strong wind. Decided 12 May no more summit attempts. |
