Route Notes On 10th May ten set out for summit, but Gordon and Gopal Tamang turned back at 27,500 ft. Set out at midnight and got to top from 11:15 onwards. Lowe planned the way, weather getting bad at 3:30 and descended 100 yds, then turned around again and continued up; returned to C4 by 5:30 pm. This the only summit bid. Burleson and Athans led a 2nd summit party which got no higher than C3 for night of 12th; stormy, windy on 13th and clients wanted to go down and down they went. Oxygen: Sutton, Dufficy, Gordon and Helenek above C3 to top; on summit day, Lowe and Berg at and above C4; 3 summit Sherpas at and above C4; Gopal Tamang at and above C4 and Ang Pasang, C4 cook, at C4; Tamang cook boy sick at BC, used at BC.
