Route Notes C1 at top of Icefall C2 in Cwm (next to Korean leader) C3 on Lhotse Face C4 at South Col. Went 1st to BC, then 3 members to Lobuche East to acclimatize and then to Namche to rest; then back to BC 23 March, when 4th member, Rheinberger on 10th May to col and slept there that night and down next day with Brown and Harris because of high winds. Intended summit bid for 11th and on 11th down to C2. 14th Brown and Harris to C3, C4 15th and to summit on 16th. Left C4 at 1:30 am together and arrived at top within 15 minutes of each other, having joined SE Ridge at 8500m, where ridge had become flat, had kept to left of SE Ridge below 8500m. 4th member Bach, never climbed on Everest after Lobuche; it was decided he did not have the skills or the ability to work with a small, Sherpa-less team. Rheinberger was slow and not strong enough.
