Route Notes BC at Iman Gurung arrived at BC - Mani Lal Gurung and Nuru Thapa made. Had been on Xixapangma with French expedition immediately before going to Everest, spent 4 nights in KTM (2 of them waiting for Lukla flight). When Iman arrived at BC, Mani Lal Gurung (from some village in Gorkha district called Lhaprak) had made C2 about a week before and put there food and cooking supplies. Iman started up from BC at 5 pm 7th reached C3 at 10:45 pm on 7th - had caught cold on 5th and had slight fever; at 6500m and very difficult with running nose and sore throat and painful coughing. Stopped at C3 7300m 20 minutes and then down (with Mani Lal from C2) and arrived BC 3 am. 7th was good moonlight and good time for summit bid. Stayed BC 2 days only with fever and coughing so left mountain. Iman never slept in C2 or any other above BC. Iman paid for 2 HA men and 3 BC staff; $1000 royalty (10% of normal) and shared salary of Ukranians' liaison officier and funds from French. Wants to try speed climb again but not to pay so much, so go with others expedition. 2nd HA man=Nun Thapa who went to BC, got sick, went to Pheriche and died there.
