Route Notes 1st summit bid planned for 4th Oct by 2 members who 1st occupied C4, but they didn't leave tent that day because of wind and on 5th were now too tired and down. Next summit party arrived at C4 on 8th and up the 9th except Johnson, who did not feel like going up. Delean went to 8300m & Brad Bull to 8700m and gave up because Delean tired and Bull too slow; Tashi stayed with Bull, so also did not summit. All others from C4 reached top as follows: Pasang Kazi 7:30 am; De La Parro 7:35; Apa (his 4th ascent) 8:00 & Berg with him; Ortega 9 am. No other summit bids. Fitch Watkins and Hoffman (his loyal client) hatched the plan to climb Everest as one of the Hoffman's 7 summits and got the permit in 1990 and Fitch Watkins hired Berg to guide the mountain; Ortega was also hired to guide climbing through never on Everest before. $17,000 each paid by all members except Fitch Watkins, Berg and Ortega. When team got to BC, it turned out promised supplies included only 6 climbing Sherpas (instead of 9), small BC staff and facilities, fewer oxygen bottles, etc (Fitch Watkins had built new house); Fitch Watkins was confronted by team late Sept when team should have been summiting but came down to BC for confrontation. Sergio was at BC because didn't like to go through Icefall; confrontation one afternoon and he disappeared from BC at 6:00 am, leaving with Elias who was tired and homesick.
Accidents Pasang Kazi fell below summit for 200m, self-arrested, broke ribs only
