Route Notes C2 in Western Cwm C3 on Lhotse Face C4 at South Col but not slept in. Pasang Lhamu's husband Sonam asked $3000 per expedition and 4-5 Sherpas were at icefall to stop climbing if not paid and put up notice that icefall route not maintained after 16 Oct; money paid to Sonam. "This situation is no good for climbing." (Eitel paid $1700 and gave 1000m rope). Sherpas put a tent at col and half-day later blown away. Only 2 strong climbers (Dacher and Eitel) and Dacher would not go without O2, Were in C2 hoping wind would permit summit but were one week too late; had however arranged for icefall to be kept open though big changes in it. Other 2 members only to C2 and left early because too much for them. Dacher and Eitel reached C4 on 17th and found tent pitched there previous day had been blown away.
