Route Notes BC at normal site C1 in Western Cwm C2 on Lhotse Face. Kessler and Joos up 2nd time to 7200m but again down as on 14th because of wind. 5th May to 7200m and 6th May to Col, but down on 7th to BC May (used Athans' tent at col) because of wind and Joos developing frostbitten nip on nose. Called off climb on 13th because winds and tired. Other 4 members were always one day behind Joos and Kessler and never reached col because lead men radioed no point in coming up. Expedition had permit for S Pillar but made no attempt to climb it. Asked at BC for col permit, never received answers but this fact did not affect climb.
