Route Notes C3 on Lhotse Face C4 at S Col High point at S Summit. "I had almost the feeling of being at the top so I was happy and sad at the same time" - Pelaudeix on reaching S Summit only. 1st summit bid by Asselin, Bordet, Cauchy, E Dutrievoz, P Dutrievoz and Pelaudeix and 5 Sherpas who made C4 but could not go higher because of wind and clouds (Bordet did not sleep at Col and Asselin went only 200m above Col and then all down). 8th Oct Pelaudeix and Bordet reached S Summit and down towards main summit with 1 Sherpa Phurba and Cauchy to 50m below South Summit. Turned back by strong wind. Left Col at 6:00 am and 1:30 pm reached col between S and Main Summit. No more summit bids because of following days wind became increasingly strong and yaks coming on 10th, had seats on Lukla flight on 15th and Japanese-Korean team had left and were no longer maintaining Icefall route. 2 members left BC 2nd Oct because they there was no hope of success.
Accidents Dutrievoz cracked rib in icefall; Meurisse had stroke at Lukla on return
