| Route Notes | BC at road C1 at North Col High point on North Face. At 7600m placed deposit camp 7th Sept and then couldn't return for rest of Sept because of snow and in Oct it was wind. Brown did manage to reach 7600m camp on 13th Oct from N Col and from there took gear across face to 7700m to get out of wind. 14th Oct took gear at 7800m further across face; winds got worse during night of 14/15th so on 15th down to ABC, 17th to BC and left on 20th Oct. Jan Harris left N Col on 13th giving up climb because he was run down; had done many trips BC-ABC and several trips to N Col and above. Maurice Wilson's body has been at ABC since 1986, when Spanish brought him there; just a pile of bones, perhaps 25% of total body. Americans buried the bones this autumn. |
