| Route Notes | Basques put their camps in same as Swedes and had same number of camps. Reached C6 only once, on 23rd May stayed 2 nights, then down because of bad snow conditions (loose new snow on packed snow in couloir) and strong winds. Climb finished now as Abrego was completely exhausted (had been sick with fever and cold) and had to be protected by Casimiro all the way down to ABC (had no one helping them). Yaks to ABC carrying loads. Basques climbed on Swedes' permit but considered themselves and were considered by Swedes to be separate expedition. There was no exchange of supplies between them. |
