Members who did not summit: Brian Trapnell reached C1 on 16/05; abandoned due to respiratory problems. Aljosa Hribar reached C4 on 18/05; abandoned due to health issues. Michael Baier reached C4 on 18/05; abandoned as he did not feel strong enough. Trevor Thomas reached below C1 (30/04) and Neil Greenwood reached C2 (01/05); abandoned due to bad coughs. Jakob Muehlbacher stayed at BC as expedition doctor. Everest 7-Day Expedition (Xenon team): Left London on 16/05. BC 17/05 C2 18/05 C3 19/05 C4 20/05 Smt 21/05 by Miller, Stazicker, Godlington, Carns, Sandro Gromen-Hayes, Pasang Tendi, Pemba Rinji, Gelu, Nima Nuru, Phu Dorji at 7:15 am. Xenon team arrived at BC by helicopter at 12:30 pm. They rested, had medical check, had lunch and left BC for C2 at midnight the same day and arrived at C2 at 9:30 am. On 19/05, they left C2 at 6 am and reached C3 at 11 am. On 20/05, they left C3 at 6:30 am and reached C4 at 1 pm. They rested till 11 pm and started their summit push. Summited at 7:15 am. Spent about half an hour on the summit and descended to C2 where they arrived at 4:40 pm. On 22/05, they left C2 at 2am and arrived at BC at 7 am. Helicopter back to Kathmandu at 8:30 am. Spent day in Kathmandu and left for London at 6 pm. Arrived in London at 6:05 am on 23/05. The entire expedition was done in 6 days and 13 hours. Lhotse: Summit on 20/05 by Long, Dorjee Sherpa at 12noon (Lhotse only) Summit team left Lhotse C4 at 5 am but turned back just below the couloirs due to high winds. But then they started again at 7:30 am and summited. Lhotse summit from Everest: Summit on 20/05 by Klint, Haar, Ran, Lieber, Karma Gyalzen, Pemba Nuru, Da Rinji, Nima Sherpa at 12 noon. After Everest summit team descended to C4 Everest. They started their Lhotse push at 4:30 am and went directly to Lhotse. Sherpas above BC: 51 Oxygen: Taken and used from C2 to top to C2 by members and Sherpas. Kangchenjunga: After Everest Rebecca Long and Benjamin Lieber together with Sange, Tashi and Pasang went to Kangchenjunga: May 23 Lukla to KBC by heli. May 24 KBC to C2 direct May 25 C2 to C3 May 26 C3 to C4 May 26 8 pm departure from C4 for summit May 27 C4 to KBC They turned around at 7800m due to dangerous wind loading at the entrance of the couloir. Waist-deep with a wind slab on top. During the previous days it had snowed more than a foot and wind drifts were even deeper. They broke our own trail both up and down the mountain, digging up the ropes as we went. 7800m high point at 10:00 pm reached by: Sange Sherpa Tashi Sherpa Pasang Sherpa Rebecca Long Benjamin Lieber Departure from KBC to Kathmandu on morning of May 28. Oxygen used from C2. Report from Kenton Cool: Cool guided private client Richard Williams. BC on 24/04. Summit by Kenton Cool, Williams, Dorje Gyalzen Sherpa (Kenton’s regular climbing partner), Pemba Nuri Sherpa (Okladhunga) and Pasang Sherpa (Taksindu) at 9:30 am on 18 May. Team left C4 at 1:3 0am. Lots of crowds and long waiting times. Spent about 20 min on summit and descended to C2 where they arrived at 9 pm. Back to BC on 19/05. Left BC on 20/05 by helicopter. Oxygen: Williams from C2 to summit to C2 C3 to summit to C3 by Cool C4 to summit to C4 by Sherpas Report from Karl Egloff: Attempt to make fastest known time for ascent of Everest without O2. Approach: Mera Peak BC 30/04 5350m C1 -- 6000m C2 04/05 6440m C3 7100m HPt 06/05 7800m For pre-training, Egloff climbed Mera Peak 10 times from Khare. First rotation, C2 on 04/05 and then to 7800m on 06/05 to touch, back to C2 and back to BC on 07/05. He stayed at BC for 7 days. From BC to 6700m and back to BC in 11 hours on 14/05. On 17/05, Egloff took the helicopter to Lukla and stayed there until 21/05. Summit Push: On 23/05 at 6 pm, Egloff left BC and turned around at 1 am at 6900m. He did not feel that it was the right time to climb the mopuntain without O2 and it was too windy. He also had a radio call from Eric Roepke, the cameraman, who was in trouble at C2. So he quickly descended to C2 where he arrived at 2:15 am. Roepke had already administered himself with DEX and Egloff took him down to BC. They went through the icefall and arrived at BC at 7:15 am. Roepke was then taken to CIWEC where he was treated for pneumonia. Summiting Sherpas on 24/05 at around noon (with Egloff's team) Wangda Sherpa (A) Furba Gelje Sherpa Phur Gelje Sherpa Tendu Sherpa Wangda Sherpa(B) Left BC 25/05 Oxygen: Not taken, not used (Egloff) Other members (film crew for Tyler Andrews and Karl Egloff’s speed ascent): Dean Staples reached C3 on 23/05. He was managing the camera team and did not intend to summit. Eric Roepke reached C4 on 23/05 to film Egloff and Andrews. He did not feel well and descended to C2 where he was eventually rescued by Egloff. Pablo Durana and Scott Rogers reached C3 on 24/05. They were filming Egloff and Andrews and did not intend to go higher. Mark Fisher reached the balcony (8400m) with Suman Gurung to film Tyler Andrews on 24/05. Manish Tamang reached 7740m on 24/05. He was supposed to go a bit higher, however, there was no oxygen so he turned back. Film crew used oxygen from C2 to high point C2.
