Perfect weather and conditions. From C2 to the summit the conditions were perfect. There was more snow on the summit ridge than in previous years. The Hillary Step was a stair case and the rock was bone dry. The Kenyan who died was on the top of the Hillary Step. One of Furtenbach’s guides gave him O2, but was unable to save his life. The team did not have to wait at the summit ridge. The average time they spent on the summit about 20 minutes. Everyone descended to C4, had a short break and continued to C2 where they arrived between 5 pm and 8 pm. They left the South Col at 10 pm. Members stayed between 20 and 30 minutes on the summit and descended to C2. Henderson helied out from C2 due to snow-blindness. Lhotse Flash team stayed at South Col on 21/05 until midnight and climbed Lhotse from there. They summited at 5 am and descended to C2 after the summit. On 22/05 down to BC. Ardavan Farmanfarmaian was ONLY attempting Lhotse. He reached C3, but abandoned due to personal reasons. Members who did not make it to the summit: Keith Simmons personal reasons, BC only Joseph McGinley personal reasons, did not reach BC Meinhard Platzer personal reasons, 6700m Stuart Webber personal reasons, did not reach BC Lajos Olah personal reasons, did not reach BC Kheiry Sammakieh health reasons, BC only Fernanda Maciel (Athlete), unsuccessful no-O2 attempt, 7400m Both teams left BC on 24/05 by heli.
