Route Notes Approach: Pangboche, Lobuche BC 15/04 5350m C1 29/04 5800m C2 30/04 6440m C3 13/05 7100m C4 14/05 7900m Smt 15/05 by Shrestha and Ang Tshering [and Lakpa Sherpa] at 4:45 am Smt 16/05 by Thanh Nha, Rima Sherpa and Sonam Sherpa at 3:30 am; Ruane and Dawa Chhiri at 5:30 am; Haylock and Nima Sherpa at 9:30 am. 15/05 summit team left C4 at 9 pm on 14/05. They spent about 15 minutes on the summit and descended to C2 where they arrived at 6 pm. 16/05 summit team left C4 at 8 pm. Straightforward climb and descended to C2, where they arrived at about 4 pm. Haylock and Nima spent the night at the South Col. On 17/05, when they descended the Lhotse Face Haylock was hit by a rock. He was unconscious for a few minutes but managed to reach C2 on his own. He spent the night at C2 and walked to BC on 18/05. Other members: Starreveld reached the Balcony during the summit push at about 8400m. He did not feel strong enough and returned to the South Col where he spent the night and descended with the summiteers on 16/05 to C2. Pleumeekers reached 6600m on 30/04. She was too slow on the mountain and was too exhausted. She was helicoptered from C2 on 01/05 as she was too tired to go back down. The expedition leader decided that she was not strong enough to climb the mountain. She left BC shortly after. Sung Il-Nam reached C2. He was too tired and exhausted to continue and was helicoptered from C2. He went to hospital in Kathmandu and was diagnosed with severe AMS. He returned to BC on 10/05. On 13/05 he ascended to C1 and C2 and 14/05, but decided he was still too weak and walked back to BC on 15/05. Bhandari only reached BC, but had a medical problem and left the expedition early. Coster went to C2. He never intended to summit. Team left BC on 18/05 by heli. Oxygen: Taken and used from 6600m to top to 6600m (bottom of Lhotse face) by members From C3 to top to C3 by Sherpas. Pramod Shrestha was a client of Ang Tshering Lama on the SST permit. Pramod Shrestha and Ang Tshering Lama were part of Coster’s expedition, but had their own schedule: A. Arrived at BC on 18 April B. Rotation C1 on 27 April, C2 on 28 April C. Summit climb: C2 on 11 May C3 on 12 May C4 on 13 May D Summit push on 14th May at 9 pm, reached the summit on 15 May at 4:45 am with Ang Tshering Lama and Lakpa Sherpa. Stayed about 45 min, descended to C2. E Left BC via heli on 17 May to Lukla. Oxygen: Used from C3 to smt to C3.
