| Route Notes | The Satori Interational Everest expedition was a combination of several independent teams. Satori Adventures provided transportation, base camp facilities and various levels of high altitude support (oxygen, high-altitude porters, tents, etc) as required and contracted for by each team. The individual accounts for each team are given below: Angelo Vasco (Italy) Camps: BC(12/04,5345m),C1(24/04,6100m),C2(25/04,6450m),C3(11/05,7100m), C4(12/05,7900m),xxx Left: 17/05/21 Hired: 1 Term: Abandoned at 7900m due to weather conditions (windstorm with blizzards, 70/80 km/h wind gusts and visibility below 5m distance) Oxygen: Taken and used from C2 to C4 to C3. Franck Tessier (France) Camps: BC(13/04,5300m),C1(24/04,5900m),C2(27/04,6500m),C3(11/05,7200m), C4(11/05,7900m),Smt(12/05) Left: 15/05/21 Hired: 1 Term: Summited at 7 am with Nima Sherpa. Summit team left C4 at 8 pm on 11/05, summited at 7 am, stayed 30 minutes, then descended to C2. Good weather, but despite of COVID, a lot of people were climbing and very slowly. Tessier had light frosbite injuries (level 2). Difficulties to use rope on the descent from C4 to C3 with the big gloves. He was obliged to use light ones and he got frostbite. A other reason is the lack of water ingestion. 2 died during the ascent day, but he do not know who they were. Oxygen: Taken and used from 7500m to summit to C3. Yuki Ueda (Japan) Camps: BC(15/04,5300m),C1(16/04),C2(17/04),C3(21/05),C4(22/05),Smt(23/05) Left: 29/05/21 Hired: 2 Term: Summited at 9:00 am by Ueda, Dachhetar Sherpa and Chhiring Sherpa. The team started its summit push at 10:30 pm on 22 May and reached summit at 9 am on 23 May. They stayed on summit 10-15 minutes and returned C4 where they arrived at 3 pm. Descent took long time due to traffic jam mainly at the Hillary Step. There were 25-30 climbers before them on the summit. Over 200 climbers summited on that day. On 24 May went down to C2 where they stayed for two nights and on 26 descended to BC. On 29 May to Gorak Shep and on 30 Heli to Lukla. Weather on summit day it was windy above Balcony-South Summit. Many climbers returned from Balcony and South Summit due to the high wind. Note: UEDA planned to go for the Lhotse summit, but due to tiredness he did not try for it. Oxygen: Used by Ueda and Chhiring from C2 to summit to C2 Used by Dachhetar from 8000m to summit to 8000m. |
