| Route Notes | The Seven Summit Treks Everest expedition was a combination of several independent teams (1-3 climbers each). Seven Summit Treks provided transportation, base camp facilities and various levels of high altitude support (oxygen, high-altitude porters, tents, etc) as required and contracted for by each team. The individual accounts for each team are given below: Victor Rimac (Peru) Victor Carcamo (Peru) Camps: BC(06/05,5350m),C2(18/05,6440m),C3(19/05,7100m),C4(20/05,7900m),xxx Left: 22/05/2019 Hired: 2 HPt: 7900m on 20/05 by Rimac, Carcamo, Ang Sumba Sherpa, Wangdi Sherpa Term: Abandoned at C4 due to sight of dead body (Tomov) just below Lhotse C4. When Rimac and Carcamo (his client) went from C3 to C4, they saw a dead body on the fixed rope just below Lhotse C4 (probably Ivan Tomov). This seemed to have freaked out Carcamo and when they arrived at C4, Carcamo decided that he did not want to continue the climb. On 21/05, they descended to C2. On 22/05, they were picked up by helicopter from C2 to BC and then to Kathmandu. Oxygen: Taken and used from C2 to C4 to C2 by members From bottom Lhotse Face to C4 to C2 by Sherpas Sherpas: Ang Sumba (Sumber) Sherpa Wangdi Sherpa (previously with Jagged Globe) Abdul Nasser Ayyappanthody (India) Camps: BC(23/04,5350m),C1(26/04),C2(27/04),C3(14/05),C4(15/05,7900m),Smt(16/05) Left: 18/05/2019 (evacuated from C2) Hired: 2 Term: Summit by Abdul Nasser and unnamed Sherpa Nassar and Dukpa Sherpa started from C4 at about 7 pm on 15/05 after resting for a few hours upon arrival. Dukpa Sherpa didn't feel well that day and turned back about 2 hours before the summit (~8600m). Another Sherpa (Nassar can't remember name) joined him for the rest of ascent. They reached the summit at approx 9-10 am and stayed on the summit for 10 minutes. Nassar's watch didn't work so he is not sure about timings. Descending from summit, a storm came in. His Sherpa went ahead and left Nassar alone. Around 2 hours before he reached C4, Nassar ran out of oxygen and water. Very exhausted and struggling he reached C4 at 4-5 pm. He was flown from C2 to hospital in KTM on 18/05. He was treated for exhaustion, but has recovered now. Oxygen: Taken and used from between C2-C3 to summit and down to C2. Hired: [Ming] Dukpa Sherpa (to ~8600m) Mark Parella (USA) Parella and Pasang Dawa left C4 on 15 May around 7-7:30 pm, summited at 6:15 am on 16 May, then descended to C4 for a nap and on to C2 arriving about 8-8:30 pm. Pasang Dawa carried a small teddy bear (Muki Bear) to the summit. Parella left BC on 18 May. Dalip Shekhawat (Canada) Camps: BC(17/04,5350m),C1(29/04,6100m),C2(30/04,6500m),C3(14/05,7300m), C4(15/05,7950m),Smt(16/05) Left: 18/05/2019 (heli-evacuated from C2) Hired: 1 Term: Summit by Shekhawat and Mingma Thindu (Hapsi) On summit bid, Shekhawat arrived at C3 (7300m) on 14 May, rested for 8-9 hours, then continued on to C4 (7950m), rested for 4 hours before starting for the summit on the evening of 15 May at 9 pm. Shekhawat climbed with Mark Parella, Ray Khan and their Sherpas. They summited at 5 am on 16 May, stayed 5-10 minutes (cold and windy), then descended to C2. Shekhawat was heli-evacuated from C2 due to snowblindness. Oxygen: Shekhawat and Sherpa used from 7300m. Ameesha Chauhan (India) Camps: BC(12/04,5364m),C1(26/04,5943m),C2(27/04,6400m),C3(14/05,7162m), C4(15/05,7989m),Smt(23/05) Left: 25/05/2019 (by help from BC) Chauhan: I have climbed twice. 1st attempt was on 16 May, I reached South Summit at 8748m just short of the summit by 100m only as the Sherpa accompanying had exhausted his oxygen cyclinder so that we could not move forward. Then I took a decision to go back and climb again in 2nd open window. On 16 May I spent night in C4 and that day on my team two climbers dead (Ravi Thakar from India and Seamus Lawless from Ireland). Next day on 17 May I reached at C2 and reached base camp on 18 May. Two days I rested at base camp and on 20 May I left for my mission to climb Everest again. 20 May to C2 and 21 May to C3. On 22 May I left for the final summit push from C4. During the ascent I came across corpses of several mountaineers. It was indeed very disturbing. On 23 May at 8:20 am I reached at top of the world heighest peak Everest. While descending I got stuck in a traffic jam at Hillary Step and unfortunately I got affected by frost bite in left toe/Fingers. I bounced back doubly charged to complete my mission on 23rd May, just within 7 days of the 1st attempt. |
