| Route Notes | BC 25/04 5350m C1 -- -- C2 28/04 6400m C3 08/05 7300m C4 22/05 7900m HPt 23/05 8750m just below the South Summit by Goettler at 11 am. On summit push Göttler left C4 at 2:30 am. On his ascent, he did not overtake anyone, but for him the route was quiet as most people left at 7 pm the previous day. Up to Balcony, he hardly met anyone. From the Balcony, he encountered more and more people coming down. When he reached the notch just below the South Summit, the weather changed and as too many people were coming down, he decided to turn back as he was without oxygen and Sherpa support. It did not take him very long to make that decision. He descended to C4 where he arrived at 1 pm, rested until 4:30 pm and continued to C2, where he arrived at 10:30 pm. He could not find his head torch, but bumped into 2 Sherpas from Asian Trekking who descended with him as they had a light. On 24/05, he descended to BC and left BC on 25/05. Oxygen: Not taken, not used |
