Route Notes The Asian Trekking Eco-Everest expedition was a combination of several independent teams (1-2 climbers each). Asian Trekking provided transportation, base camp facilities and various levels of high altitude support (oxygen, high-altitude porters, tents, etc) as required and contracted for by each team. The individual accounts for each team are given below: David Liano (Mexico) Appr: Everest BC by heli from Kangchenjunga Camps: BC(17/05,5350m),C2(18/05,6400m),C4(19/05,7900m),Smt(20/05) Left: 22/05/2018 Hired: 1 Term: Success (5:58 am) Team reached C4 at 1 pm on 19/05 and they left C4 again 10:45 pm. Route was busy with the big border security forces ahead of them. They passed about 40 people. When they reached the summit, there was only one other person up there. They spent 45 minutes on the summit. Descended to C4 where they arrived at 8:30 am. They spent the night at C4 as Liano had planned to go to Lhotse. However, on his way up he was hit by a chunk of ice in his right eye, which caused him some problems. His eye did not get better and then he abandoned the idea of going to Lhotse. On 21/05 Pasang Rita and Liano descended to BC. They started at 9 am and arrived at 6 pm. Oxygen: Taken and used from C3 to top to C3 by Pasang Rita and Liano. Sherpa: Pasang Rita, Thami, 01/07/1977 Amit Kumar (India) Navdeep Bittu (India) Appr: Lukla->Everest BC (Lobuche East on 19 Apr) Camps: BC(14/04,5300m),C1(21/04,5900m),C2(21/04,6400m),C3(19/05,7300m), C4(20/05,7900m),Smt(21/05) Left: 23/05/2018 Hired: 1 Term: Success (7:57 am, 8:08 am, 8:10 am, 9:31 am) Members who left bc prior to the end of the expedition: Swati Verma high point in Icefall, at c5700m – "slow and not technically skilled enough" according to Kumar, left BC before others. His Sherpa didn't go for summit afterwards, same high point altitude. Pranay Disneshbhai Damor high point at C2 - during first rotation, contracted a pulmonary edema, went back to Ktmdu for treatment, then came back to BC, then again at C1, went down, staying ill at BC, so definitely left BC before others. His Sherpa didn't go on top, same high point altitude. Members who summited: Manisha Jayakrishna Waghmare – on 21st at 8:10 am Amit Kumar – on 21st at 7:57 am Sandeep Mansukhani - on 21st at 7:57 am Navdee Bittu – on 21st at 8:08 am Sandeep Toliya – on 21st at 7:57 am Swarnalata Dalai – on 21st at 8:10 am Poonam – on 21st at 9:31 am Sherpas summiters (in same order): Dawa Chiring Bhote - 8:10 am Sonam Chiring Sherpa - 7:57 am Tshering Tashi Sherpa - 7:57 am Pemba Tsering Lama - 8:08 am Ang Furba Sherpa - 7:57 am Pem Dorjee Sherpa - 8:10 am Ngawang Chhongba - 9:31 am Navdeep Bittu and Amit Kumar went back to C2 on 21st, then on 22nd to C2 and Ktmdu by helicopter. Kumar had become snowblind, due to his oxygen mask fogging his glasses; Navdeep Bittu accompanied with him for helping. Rest of the team went back to BC on the 22nd (2 Sandeep's + Poonam), except Manisha and Swarlata who reached BC on the 23rd. Navdeep Bittu provided clear summit pictures. Oxygen: Taken and used from 6800m Jakob Urth (Denmark) Appr: Lukla->Everest BC Camps: BC(21/04,5300m),C1(28/04,5900m),C2(29/04,6480m),C3(06/05,7200m), C4(18/05,7900m),Smt(19/05) Left: 22/05/2018 Hired: 2 Term: Success (8:32 am) On 18th of May, Urth started at 8 pm from C4. On 19th of May, summited at 8:32 am, back to C4 at about 3/4 pm. 2 Sherpas following, caring for him, one of them filming: Lakpa Rinji Sherpa Nima Kanchha Sherpa On 20th of May down to C2, had heli-rescue flight to BC. At C2, talked with the expedition doctor (Ben Clock) about one of his fingers. As the doctor was afraid about some risk of frostbite, him asked him to stop waiting for heli-rescue. Urth comment: "Maybe a little bit too much, no need." On 21st stayed at BC all day. On 22nd flew from BC to Ktmdu. Oxygen: Taken from 8650m to top, down to South Summit. Carsten Pedersen (Denmark) Appr: Lukla->Everest BC Camps: BC(30/04,5300m),C1(06/05,6050m),C2(07/05,6480m),xxx(11/05,7000m) Left: 23/05/2018 Hired: 1 Term: Abandoned at 7000m due to coughing attacks in Icefall High point on 11/05 at 7000m on Lhotse Face Carsten Pedersen and Lhakpa Sherpa. Pedersen went back down to base camp after he had reached his high point of 7000m. As he was starting for his summit push on 21/05 with his Sherpa, he abandoned in the Icefall due to repetitive cough attacks. Back to BC on that day, expedition finished. Sherpa: Lakpa Nuru Sherpa, Jubing-1, 1990/05/18 (Everest x1) Sibusiso Vilane (S Africa) Appr: Lukla->Everest BC Camps: BC(14/04,5300m),C1(24/04,6000m),C2(25/04,6400m),C3(04/05,7000m), C4(20-21/05,7900m),xxx Left: 23/05/2018 Hired: 1 Term: Abandoned at 7000m due to altitude effects, since he was coughing a lot, struggling with it taking his energy away; so decided not to go up there, as he needed to be 100% for pushing himself. Slept at C4 on 20/05 and 21/05. During way up to C4 from C3 and during the night, coughing a lot, decided not to continue without oxygen. On 20-21/05, all way down to BC, from 3 am at C4 to 6 pm at BC; at C2, felt very tired and wanted to stay, but Sherpa pushed him to continue. Oxygen: Not used, not taken Sherpa: Phurba Gyalzen
