Route Notes From Himalayan Times, 21 May 2017, Rajan Pokhrel Chhewang Sherpa, Managing Director at Arun Treks, said that Ravi Kumar, a climber from Moradabad of Uttar Pradesh, India, has gone out of contact from the balcony area after he was descending to lower camps after successfully standing atop the world’s highest peak at 1:28 pm on Saturday. According to him, his climbing guide Lakpa Wongya Sherpa has also been found unconscious after suffering from frostbite at Camp IV. Ravi Kumar and the climbing guide got separated during the descent, he added. "Efforts are underway to conduct a search for the missing climber." From Himalayan Times, 22 May 2017, Rajan Pokhrel Chhowang Sherpa, Managing Director at Arun Treks, confirmed that a search and rescue team of Sherpa climbers spotted the body of Ravi Kumar, a climber frmo Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, some 200 metres below the climbing route. The 27-year-old climber had been out of contact since he was descending alone from the Balcony to lower camps after successfully standing atop Mt. Everest from the Nepali side at 1:28 pm on Saturday. Ravi failed to make it to lower camp after his climbing guide, Lakpa Wongya Sherpa, also fell unconscious after suffering from frostbite. Sherpa, however, had managed to descend to Camp IV.
