| Route Notes | BC 07/04 5350m C1 27/04 6100m C2 04/05 6500m C3 21/05 7300m C4 22/05 7900m HPt 23/05 8600m (near South Summit) by Chawale, Phurba Dorje and Tenzing Sherpa at 7 am. High point team left C4 at 10 pm on 22 May. It was windy, however, it was Ok. The winds increased and reached about 90km/h. The weather forecast was bad. They only had one oxygen bottle each and were stuck behind a big team at the South Summit. Chawale radioed to Zirpe, who was at BC and Zirpe told him to turn back at 7 am. He reached South Col at 11 am, where he stayed the night. The wind was increasing and he was exhausted. He descended to C2 on 24 May. Chawale also had knee pain and they were trying to helicopter him to Kathmandu. Zirpe had chest pain at 6800m (bottom of Lhotse face). He was rescued to BC by helicopter. Vishal stayed with them. Team left BC on 24 May be helicopter. Oxygen: Taken and used from C3 to high point to C3 by Chawale and Sherpas. |
