He was intending to summit Everest and Lhotse without oxygen. He was hoping for a weather window, but it never arrived. Between the time when he had reached 7700m and his summit push, he stayed at BC and went down to Deboche. When it came to his summit push, he felt that too many people were on the route and decided to use oxygen. He had taken 3 bottles with him, just in case. On 20 May at about 10 pm, the winds dropped. However, Tendi was not feeling well and Ward was worried about the amount of people going up that night and he decided to abandon this climb. On 21 May they headed down at 7 am and descended to C2 as Tendi was still not feeling better. On 22 May at BC. Deerness and Smith reached about 5500m at the end of April. Deerness was not feeling up for the climb and abandoned the expedition. Smith was part of her team (business partners) and joined her. They left BC beginning of May. Anshu Jamsenpa (also on Dream Himalaya permit) summited on 16 May and 21 May. Ward saw her at BC in between both summits.
