Route Notes NTU-NIE = Nanyang Technological University-National Institute of Education BC 09/04 5400m C1 25/04 6100m C2 26/04 6400m C3 20/05 7100m C4 21/05 7950m Smt 22/05 at 9:30 am by Ya'akob, Nosang Bhote and Dukchung Lama. Arjunan felt exhausted and had been rescued from C1 to BC by helicopter start of May. He resumed the climb after a few days of rest. Arjunan eventually abandoned climb on 12 May a bit above C2 due to frostnip on his hands. On 13 May he was back at BC. He stayed at BC for the rest of the expedition. Tong suffered from hypothermia on first rotation and was evacuated from C2 to BC by helicopter on 28 April. Doctors at BC diagnosed HAPE. It got worse during the night and he was flown to Kathmandu the next day. After a few days of recovery in Kathmandu he returned to BC, resuming the climb. On summit push Tong and Ya'akob with their Sherpas set off from C4 on 21 May at 9 pm. Weather was perfect, not much wind, the trail was full of people going for the summit. Tong and Datuk Bhote turned around at South Summit at 4 am on 22 May, because Tong suffered from cold feet and hypothermia. They got back to C4 at 7:30 am. Ya'akob, Nosang and Dukchung continued to the summit. They were back at C4 at 2:40 pm. Tong descended to C2. On 23 May he was back at BC. Ya'akob stayed at C4 for the night. Next day (23 May) she descended to C2. She reached BC on 24 May. Francois reached C3 on 22 May with Lakpa Sherpa. At C3 he decided to abandon the climb because of bad weather forecast. He spent one night at C3 breathing supplemental oxygen. He was back in BC on 24 May. Team left 25 May trekking to Pheriche. Oxygen: Used by Ya'akob from start of Lhotse Face (6600m) to the summit and down to C2; by Tong from start of Lhotse Face to South Summit and down to C2; by Francois during the night at C3. By Dukchung Lama from C4 to summit and down to C3; by Nosang Bhote from a little bit above C3 to summit and down to C2; by Datuk Bhote from C4 to South Summit and down to C3.
