Route Notes Rathod couple claimed that they started their summit push from C4 at 6 pm on 22 May along with two Sherpas. They reached summit at 6:25 am on 23 May and stayed there only 6-7 minutes to have some quick pictures because Sherpas told them that there is not enough time to spend on the summit. They returned C4 between 1-2 pm and slept there. Next day 24 May they went down to C2 and the following day 25 May to BC. At BC Tarkeshwari got HAS and she was very weak, vomiting, fever, no appetite and her calcium level recorded was 3 which is very low. Medication at BC did not show any effects. On 27 May they were evacuated from BC to Kathmandu and stayed in Norvic Hospital 6 days. Rathods also said that there were 6-7 climbers on the summit; among them four climbers were from north side. On descent they met 3 or 4 climbers going up. Starting time weather was good but after 8 pm wind started picking up for 4-5 hours. Note: The couple did not keep any notebook for time and altitudes and date. After their claim for having successfully climbed Everest in a press conference held in Kathmandu, some inquiries came from India to have details of their climb and also suspected the claim. Summit photographs provided by Rathod do not show any digital details which normally shows in the snap properties. The high point perhaps for the couple could be C2. Summit certicates were voided by the Ministry after it was discovered that the couple inserted their own faces into summit photes taken by Satyarup Siddhantha. There is no evidence that this couple proceeded very far above base camp, perhaps only into the lower portions of the Khumbu Icefall. From the Himalayan Times by Rajan Pokhrel, 4 July 2016 Nepal Prepares to Blacklist Indian Couple for Everest Summit Manipulation Their Summit Certificaes to be Voided KATHMANDU: The Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has initiated a process to ban the Indian police couple from visiting Nepal for mountaineering for at least 10 years and cancel their Everest summit certificates. Sudarshan Prasad Dhakal, Director General at the DoT, said the DoT recommended the MoCTCA to take a formal decision to impose a 10-year ban on Dinesh Chandrakant Rathod and his wife Tarkeshwari Chandrakant Bhelerao of Maharashtra from visiting Nepal for mountaineering expedition by cancelling the summit certificates that the couple obtained from the Government of Nepal by submitting faked photos on June 10. After receiving a written clarification from Makalu Adventure Treks today, the DoT concluded that the couple had obtained summit certificates from the DoT by submitting doctored photos of their summit attempts to the top of Mt Everest, he added. "The expedition organising company also admitted in its clarification that the photos were morphed," Dhakal said. He added that Makalu Adventure Treks, however, blamed the climbing Sherpas for the goof-up. "The company accused the climbing Sherpas – Furba from Sankhuwasabha and Fursemba from Solukhumbu, who accompanied the Rathods to Everest expedition — of helping the Rathods to play foul." The DoT awarded the couple with summit certificates on June 10 endorsing their claims of having reached the summit in the early morning of May 23. The photos submitted by Rathod couple to DoT as a proof were found faked after Satyarup Siddhantha, a climber from Bangalore, accused Rathod couple of plagiarising his summit photos while the Bengaluru climber scaled the mountain on May 21. According to Mohan Lamsal, Managing Director at Makalu Adventure Treks, both climbing Sherpas who assisted the Rathods are still out of reach. As the department had not consulted with the climbing Sherpas, the team's liaison officer Ganesh Prasad Timsina who heads Karakvitta tourism office in Jhapa, approved the Rathods’ claims.
