Route Notes Harstad along with Kili Pemba and Dawa Tenzing left C4 on 18 May at 9 pm, summited on 19 May at 9:30 am. Straightforward ascent. They spent about 20 minutes on the summit. When Harstad was on the summit she started to notice the first symptoms of snowblindness. She did not see anything anymore on the South Summit and the Sherpas help her descent by rappelling or guiding her down. They stayed at C4, where they arrived at 10 pm. The following day she used eye drops and it improved, but Harstad and Kili Pemba stayed an extra night on the South Col. On 21 May to C2 and 22 Ma, back to BC. [Later Harstad described her vision problems as hypoxic corneal edema (edema in the eye due to lack of oxygen and the wearing of contacts) after consultation with an altitude physician and her optician.] Oxygen: From C3 to top to C2 by Harsted From C3 to top to C4 by Sherpas Sherpas: Kili Pemba (Kilu Pemba), Beding, 15/05/1980 Dawa Tenzin (Dawa Tenji), Beding, 31/10/1975 (given by Harstad) Dawa Phurten, Hatiya (as per summit certificate given by Ministry) Harstad had plans to climb Lhotse afterwards, but did not attempt to it, due to her vision issues. Napassaporn Chumnarnsit and Khomrat Pichitdej are listed on the Himalayan Guides permit and climbed with Harstad, so are included with this team. Chumnarnsit originally planned to climb Everest from the north, but at the last moment decided to climb from the south and joined with Harstad using the same agency Tseringma Treks. Dawa Tenzing was supposed to be climbing with Khomrat Pichitdej, then went to the summit with Harstad carrying oxygen after he dropped out. Chumnarnsit summited along with Pemba [Pema Chhhiring] Sherpa, Siv Harstad and her two Sherpas on 19 May at 9:45 am.
