Route Notes Seven Summit Treks Everest expedition was a combination of several independent teams (1-2 climbers each). Seven Summits provided transportation, base camp facilities and various levels of high altitude support (oxygen, high-altitude porters, tents, etc) as required and contracted for by each team. The individual accounts for each team are given below: Yachiyo Suzuki (Japan) Name: Suzuki on Everest & Lhotse 2016 Camps: BC(18/04,5350m),C1(26/04,6000m),C2(27/04,6350m),C3(18/05,7300m), C4(19/05,7900m),Smt(20/05) Left: 25/05/2016 Hired: 1 Term: Success (8:00 am) Suzuki left C4 with Sanu on 19 May at 7 pm, summited on 20 May at 8 am, stayed 30 minutes, then retured to C4 at noon. Many people. Good conditions. Straightforward climb. Oxygen: From 6600m to top to 6600m by Suzuki From C4 to top to C4 by Sanu Sherpa. Sherpa: Sanu Sherpa, Walung, 30/04/75 Naba Kumar Pukon (India) Seema Goswami (India) Narender Singh (India) Camps: BC(18/04,5350m),C1(22/04,5943m),C2(23/04,6400m),C3(18/05,7162m), C4(19/05,7950m),Smt(20/05) Left: 22/05/2016 Hired: 3 Term: Success (7:53 am) The three-member team consisting of Phukon, Goswami and Singh together with three Sherpas started from C4 at 8 pm on 19 May. They got to the summit at 7:53 am on 20 May and stayed on summit about 10-12 minutes. The team returned C4 between 2:30-3 pm. They continued to descend to C3. On the way down Goswami said that her Sherpa left her alone at 7900m without food, water and tent. Other climbers arrived at C3 at 5 pm. Next day 21 May stayed at C2 and on 22 May to BC. Whereas Goswami spent night in open using available oxygen. She was rescued from 7900m approximately after 24 hours to C2 on 21 night then evacuated to Kathmandu hospital on 22 May by heli. She was discharged form hospital on 27 May. Singh left C4 with Dawa on 19 May at 7 pm, summited on 20 May at 7:53 am, stayed 12 minutes, then retured to C3. Good weather. Singh suffered some frostbite during the climb. Oxygen: Members used from C3 to summit to C3. Sherpas used from C4 to summit to C4. Luo Jing (China) Camps: BC(11/05,5350m),C2(12/05,6400m),C3(13/05,7300m),C4(14/05,7900m),Smt(15/05) Left: 22/05/2016 Hired: 0 Term: Success (9:20 am) Luo Jing was accclimatized from summiting Annapurna I on 1 May. She came to Gorak Shep by helicopter. Luo left C4 with Norbu Sherpa on 14 May at 10 pm, summited on 15 May at 9:20 am, stayed 10 minutes, then descended to C4 at 4 pm. Oxygen: Luo used from C3 to summit to C3. Norbu used from 7600m to summit to 7600m. Sherpa: Norbu, Makalu [Chhiji Nurbu] Richard Hidalgo (Peru) Camps: BC(12/04,5350m),C2(22/04,6300m),C3(24/04,7300m),C4(21/05,7900m), xxx(22/05,8400m) Left: 25/05/2016 Hired: 0 Term: Abandoned at 8400m due to high winds Hidalgo left C4 at midnight on 21 May. He left late as he had lost his water bottle on the way up and needed to rehydrate. He reached about 8400m (just below the Balcony) at around 4 am, but it was too windy and he decided to turn back. He went back to C4, rested a bit, took his tent and descended to C2, where he arrived at about 5 pm. BC on 23 May. Oxygen: Not taken, not used. Azim Gheichisaz (Iran) Camps: BC(18/04,5350m),C2(24/04,6400m),C3(07/05,7100m),C4(14/05,7900m),Smt(19/05) Left: 24/05/2016 Hired: 0 Term: Success (11 am) Gheichisaz left C4 at 10 pm on 18 May. Many people on the way. Cold night and windy. He spent about half an hour on the summit (with Alireza Behpour from Prestige Adventure) and descended to C4 where he arrived at 5 pm. On 20 May he descended to C2 and on 21 May to BC. Oxygen: Not taken, not used. Conditions good, weather good. Only a bit windy on the summit. Straightforward climb. Stayed about one hour on the summit. They descended to C4, where they arrived at 12 noon. On 22 May to C2 and 23 May to BC. Oxygen: C3 to top (high point) to C3 by members. C4 to top to C4 by Sherpas. Without bottled oxygen, his heat production was inferior to his heat loss.
