| Route Notes | BC 17/04 5300m ABC 25/04 6400m Hpt 25/04 6400m at ABC by Atkins, Black, Bradshaw, McMahon, Naywr, Watson of the British Army expedition, plus the members of the North Col Dinner expedition: Law, Mason, Llewellyn-Davies and Elliman. Team was enroute to ABC when the earthquake happened. They were on the medial moraine about 2/3 up the route to ABC. The ground shook and ice towers collapsed left and right. They carried on to reach ABC; however, afterwards all movement was banned. From Expedition website: A Guinness World Record Attempt In April 2015, a British expedition will set out to climb Mt Everest by the North Ridge. En-route to the top, they will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Highest formal black tie Dinner Party. The menu has been devised by Sat Bains, the Two Michelin Star Chef, who will accompany the team and cook the record breaking meal high on the mountain. In a symbolic gesture to thank the Sherpa community for its many sacrifices, the expedition climbers will serve the high altitude Sherpas to this delicious meal. The expedition will be undertaken by a team of British businessmen with a passion for mountaineering and with a real desire to give something back to the Sherpa community both through highlighting their sacrifices in the world's media and assisting Community Action Nepal with their work. Some are experienced alpinists with high altitude mountaineering experience, others are looking to make their first 8000m summit. The team will fly out to Tibet in early April 2015 and take the world's highest railway journey from Beijing to Lhasa. After a few days acclimatisation, they will drive across the Tibetan Plateau and then set up Base Camp in the Rongbuk Valley. The Team will rest for a few days before commencing their trek and climb to the North Col at circa 7100m (23,293 ft). Following the formal black tie dinner, sponsored by GH Mumm, the team members who will be wearing top of the range mountain clothing by Canada Goose, will return to Base Camp. The Summit Team will then prepare for their climb to the top. |
