Route Notes All members except Brier, Nissen and BC doctor Girawong, spent the nights of 25 and 26 April with 16 Sherpas at C2 (6500m) because the earthquake on the 25th had cut the climbing route and left them stranded. On the 27th they trekked down to C1 and were picked up from there by a helicopter and flown to BC. From there they trekked down to Gorak Shep; some members, including the two who intended to scale Lhotse. flew from Gorak Shep to Lukla and flew to Kathmandu via Biratnagar; the others trekked to Lukla and flew to Kathmandu directly. The BC doctor, Marisa Eve Girawong, a physician's assistant specializing in emergency medicine, was killed by the earthquake-triggered avalanche in BC on 25 April.
