| Route Notes | BC 15/04 5350m C1 25/04 6100m HPt 25/04 6100m by Oostra and Bradshaw. Oostra and Bradshaw had just arrived at C1 and were setting up their tent. A huge roar could be heard all around them and then the earth shook. Bradshaw thought a crevasse was opening up underneath her in the tent. She shot outside to join Oostra. The earth shook for about 30 seconds as well as spindrift snow blasts from the various avalanches coming off the Western Shoulder and Nuptse. No visibility. They were helicoptered back to BC on 27 April. Oostra and Bradshaw were sharing BC services with Henry Todd, who lost three Sherpas in the avalanche that was triggered by the earthquake. Oostra and Bradshaw held permits for both Everest and Lhotse. |
