Route Notes The team made the decision to cancel after the resolution was made between government and the Sherpas. The main reason they made the decision was because everyone else was doing it, and the general consensus from the Icefall doctors and the guides and people at Seven Summit Treks was that it was too dangerous this year in the Icefall and no alternate route was available. Lochmiller wrote that even though it was announced that the mountain was open for climbing, it really wasn't because there was no one to support the route up to C2. He and Lhakpa Gelu wanted to continue, but after evaluating the safety of everything, they decided it was in their best interests to turn back.
