Route Notes On their way to BC, the team walked to the base of Pumori's SE Face on 16 April and were in BC on the 17th for the Everest puja. On the 18th, Jones joined Eric Murphy, et al, in rescue efforts in the icefall following the fatal avalanche that morning. On the 19th, the team sat around BC. They did no loading-carrying or climbing attempts. On 23 April, Jones talked with Lhakpa Rita, their sirdar and Everest veteran, Henry Todd, a veteran British Everest team leader and member of a British expedition, plus members of his own expedition and concluded the climb should be abandoned. The members left BC on the 25th and Jones on the 27th. This team and Murphy's Alpine Ascents team shared a pool of climbing Sherpas. But in the end, five of the Sherpas who were killed by the avalanche on the 18th, Mingma Nuru and Dorje Sherpa were with Jones and the other three Alpine Ascents fatalities, Ang Tshiri, Nima and Phur Temba, were with Eric Murphy's party. Sherpa Sirdar: Lhakpa Rita, 9/9/66, from Thami, but now lives in Shoreline, Washington, USA, Everest X15, Cho Oyu X7 Deceased Sherpas: Mingma Nuru, Namche-4 Dorje Sherpa, Namche-4
