Route Notes Six members and seven Sherpas went to the summit on a single day, 19 May. Den Hond, Farebrother, Lala, McKibbin, Mooney and Schmidt set out for the top from C4 with seven Sherpas at 7:00 pm on 18 May. (Two more Sherpas, Da Tshering and Nima Nuru, accompanied them as far as the Balcony at 8500m, dropped a suppy of oxygen bottles, and went back to C4.) Mooney, Fur Temba and Palden Namgye were the first to gain the summit at 5:39 am on the 19th. The rest were there at 9:50 am. Mooney and Palden Namgye descended to C4 at 10:00 am and continued down to C2 at 3:00 pm. Schmidt was in C4 at 2:00 pm and the other summiters got there at 5:00 pm. Everyone was in C2 on the 20th and in BC the next day. Oxygen was used by all members and Sherpas. All members who went above C4 used it from C3 to their high points to C3 except Farebrother and Schmidt. Schmidt started on it at 8200m; Farebrother, trying to do his entire climb without oxygen, left C3 for C4 on his way to the top much later than normal, so when he arrived at the South Col (C4), he had only about an hour to rest before continuing on to the summit; when he reached the Balcony (8500m), he realized he was climbing too slowly and started on oxygen there for the rest of his ascent to the summit. Some Sherpas used oxygen in C4, others from C4 to their high points to C4. Farebrother made a bid to summit Lhotse. After spending a night at the South Col (C4), Farebrother, Tashi Thundu and Fur Temba went on the 20th from the Col to set up a camp at 7800m for their Lhotse C4 push to the Lhotse's summit. Farebrother and Tashi Thundu set out from Lhotse C4 at about 1:00 am on May 21, climbed for about one hour, but then turned around because of serious rock fall. They descended to C2 for the night and next day, the 22nd, were in BC. Non-summiting members: Deblauwe developed blurred vision in C2 and left the team on 24 April. Desai got only 200m above BC on 12 April, decided that climbing Everest was not for him, and left on the 13th. Lombardo also never reached C1: he was halfway into the Icefall and then had a recurrence of an old back pain. He left BC in a helicopter with his personal guide, Jarrin. Sherpas: Chhiring Namgyal/Namgel, 22/8/91, Phortse [Khumjung-8], Everest X1 Chhong Karma, 25/6/80, Tingla-2, Solu, Everest X1 Da Tshering, 20/6/67 (6/3/2024), Khumjung, no 8000ers Fur Temba, 24/10/75 (7/10/2031), Phortse Mingmar, 22/7/70 (7/4/2047), Jantarkhani-9, Okhaldhunga, Everest X5 Nima Nuru, 16/6/78 (2/3/2035), Khumjung, no 8000ers Palden Namge/Namgye/Namgyal, 20/9/72, Phortse, Everest X7, Lhotse X4, Manaslu X1, Annapurna X1 Sange Phuru, 22/9/96, Bakachol-9, Khotang, Everest X1 [22/8/86] Tashi Thundu, 10/4/85, Khumjung, Everest X9
