Route Notes The team's five members plus two Sherpas (Kami Rita and Phura Kancha) and Elia Saikaly, a film-maker with the bigger Everest expedition led by Garrett Madison (both teams organized by Alpine Ascents International) left C4 for the top on 21 May at 10:00 pm, and moving slowly, all of them gained the summit at 9:45 am on 22 May. Still going very slowly, they did not return to C4 until 5:00 pm. The next day, the 23rd, they were in C2, and on the 24th they descended to BC and took a helicopter to Kathmandu that day. All used oxygen: members from C2 to the top to C2, Sherpas in and from C4 to the top to and in C4. Kalafchi got frostbite on the first digits of two toes. They were not seriously damaged; four days later they were blistering. This team shared Sherpas with Garrett Madison's group: at varying times, as many as 10 worked with Horst's party and the other 20 with Madison's.
