| Route Notes | BC 10 Apr 5350m C1 27 Apr 6000m C2 28 Apr 6400m C3 -- 7300m C4 09 May 7900m Smt 10 May by Irmak, Mingma Dorchi, Lhakpa Tindu at 12:35 pm [disputed]. According to Irmak (information that is disputed) they never slept at C3 but climbed directly from C2 to C4 on 9 May. They left C2 at 3 am and reached C3 at 6 am from where Irmak took oxygen. They arrived at C4 at 6 pm. Summit team left C4 with the rope-fixing team at 6:30 am on 9 May. They were a lot slower than the other rope fixers and reached the summit at 12:30 pm. They spent 5 minutes on the summit and descended to C2, where they arrived at 7:30 pm. Irmak claims that he reached the summit; however, none of the rope-fixing Sherpas nor David Tait, who summited with Himex on 10 May saw Irmak. According to Russell Brice, two Seven Summit Treks Sherpas (Mingma Dorje and Lhakpa Tendu), who were also part of the rope-fixing team, only reached the Balcony and left the rope there. Colonel Neeraj Rana who was also climbing with Seven Summit Treks, said that he spoke to Irmak via radio when he was at the South Col. He told him to come down as he was exhausted and the weather was not so good. Nobody Billi Bierling spoke to at the Seven Summit Treks camp believes that Irmak reached the summit, but only reached the South Col on 9 May. Billi emailed Irmak several times for a summit picture, but never received one. Oxygen: Taken and used from C3 to high point to C4 by Irmak Taken and used from C4 to high point to C4 by Sherpas Sherpas: Mingma Dorje, Tashigaon, Makalu-Barun, 30/8/1980 [biodata in error?] Lhakpa Tendu, Makalu-9, Makalu-Barun, 18/4/87 [biodata in error?] |
