| Route Notes | BC 07 May 5200m ABC 10 May 6400m C1 11 May 7000m C2 18 May 7700m C3 19 May 8300m HPt 20 May 8700m by Hauer at 7 am (Nepali time). Hauer left C3 at 1 am on 20 May. He was alone and was climbing without supplemental oxygen. The weather was good and not windy at all. When he reached about 8700m at 7 am, he met a Sherpa and his American client, who was snowblind. The Sherpa asked Hauer to help him bring down the American, which he did and forced him to abandon his summit attempt. They descended to the North Col at 7000m, where they arrived at 10 pm.
