Route Notes BC 19 Apr ABC 20 Apr C1 01 May C2 17 May C3 18 May Smt 19 May at 7 am Nepali time by Lathi, Black, Jit Bahadur and Nima Gombu. Summit team, Kershner and Richard left C3 at 9:30 pm on 18 May. Weather was clear and calm. Kershner reached 8500m, but was then turned around by Nima Gombu as Nima Gombu thought he was too late and too slow. He has also lost his mental strength as he had to pass the dead body of Namgyal Sherpa who died of heart attack on 16 May. Richard reached 8800m at about 6 am, but felt tired and was was worried that she would not have enough strength to go down. She descended to C3 where she arrived at noon. The rest of the team carried on. Straightforward climb. They spent about one hour on the summit and descended to C3, where they arrived at 4 pm. Richard had waited there and Kershner had already gone down to C2, where he spent the night. On 20 May everyone was down at ABC. PS [from Richard]: Everyone on the expedition got a summit certificate from the CTMA. Nima Gombu said that everyone summited. Apparently this is what has been happening in China for a while. Trekking agents are wanting to have a better track record and are pretending that all their members summited. Oxygen: Taken and used from C2 to summit or high point to C2 by members and Sherpas Sherpas: Nima Gombu, Beding, Rolwaling, 2/1/69 Jit Bahadur (Thile), Khare-5, Dolakha, 30/7/78
