Route Notes The Monterosa International Everest expedition was a combination of several independent teams (1-2 climbers each). Monterosa provided transportation, base camp facilities and various levels of high altitude support (oxygen, high-altitude porters, tents, etc) as required and contracted for by each team. The individual accounts for each team are given below: Adrian Crane (UK/USA) Name: Adrian Zorro Gold Rush to Everest Camps: BC(16/04,5330m),IC(21/04,5800m),ABC(22/04,6400m),C1(18/05,7070m), xxx(20/05,7220m) Left: 23/05/2013 Hired: 0 Term: Abandoned on 20 May due to physical condition (not strong enough) Crane did cycling from Kodari to Janakpur in 2000 and 2004 Everest CBC to Kodari. This year he is cycling from Janakpur to zero altitude (Bangladesh) via India. Crane was suffering form an injury that stopped him from training hard. He just didn’t have it in him, so he quit at 7220m. Oxygen: From N Col to high pt to N Col Jose Luis (Topo) Romero (Spain) Name: Tokando Las Astrellas Everest Camps: CBC(16/04,5300m),IC(21/04,5700m),ABC(22/04,6400m),C1(07/05,7000m), xxx(19/05,7060m) Left: 23/05/2013 Hired: 1 Term: Abandoned at 7060m due to blistered feet (inappropriate boots) Adrian Crane said that on summit push day Romero and Ang Dawa went little above C1 (7060m approx), but Romero could not continue due to boot problems, his feet badly blistered. So Romero gave up. Sherpa: Ang Dawa Sherpa, 7/2/1978, Seduwa, Makalu-5, Everest X2 Oxygen: Not used Others: William Sarmiento (USA) Jose Miota Ibarra (Spain) Adrian Crane - 7 Oct 2013 (email) William Sarmiento arrived at BC with Monterosa in April with me. He came to ABC and climbed to about 22,200 ft at the base of the North Col wall on Wednesday May 8th. Dr. Jose Miota Ibarra never planned on going beyond ABC camp. He did come up to "Crampon Point" (about 21,800 ft?) a couple of times. Above ABC, Topo (Jose Luis Romero) worked with his Sherpa while I put camp and supplies on North Col and tried to get C2 established. Eventually we agreed to climb on the same schedule (mostly for company than logistical reasons) during our summit push, but as I said before, he did not go above North Col.
