| Route Notes | On 26th of September: Sanu Sherpa and Tsijin Norbu Sherpa begun to fix rope up to C4 and went back to C2 for sleeping. 6 members slept at C3 this night (Choi, Hong, Jung, Kim Jin-Suk, Oh and Rin). On 27th: Hong, Jung and Rin slept again at C3; Oh, Choi and Kim Jin-Suk went back to BC. On 28th: Sanu Sherpa and Tsijin Norbu Sherpa finished to fix rope up to C4 and went back to C2 for sleeping. Hong, Jung, Rin joined by Kim Myoung-Lae, Park and Woo, all slept at C3. On 29th: Woo went alone to C4 for accimatization and went back to C2 for sleeping. The day after he was back to the BC. On 14th: Oh slept at C4 on the normal route of Lhotse (used by the Polish team led by Artur Hajzer) and was back the day after at C2. 16th October: The first summit try day, the 4 Sherpas of the team begun to climb for C3 when the accident of Temba from Sedua occured on Lhotse normal route. The Sherpas called the 4 members of the team (Choi, Kim Jin-Suk, Oh and Park) who were just starting from C2 to go back there in order to search for material to help to carry the body of Temba. They all together found the body at 6700m, in the end of a long red line marked on the Lhotse's face snow and descended it to a flat area so that it could be taken of by the helicopter (because of the winds, the helicopter went only on the 18th of October). On 27th October: a second summit try saw Choi, Jung, Kim Jin-Suk and Woo reaching almost C3 (around 7000m) and came back to C2. This was the second and last attempt. For most of the month of October, the team tried to reach C3, but was never able to sleep there because of the strong winds. Fixed rope: The expedition fixed 4000m of fixed rope, in the icefall then on the west face of the South Col. Sherpas: Sanu Sherpa, 23 April 1977, Makalu-9, Walung Tsijin Nurbu Sherpa, 17 December 1979, Makalu-9, Walung Na Tenzing Sherpa, 2036/11/16, Makalu-9, Walung Tshiring Sherpa, 2038/4/27, Cheskham, Solu |
