| Route Notes | Bernhard and Lhakpa Gelu left Camp 2.5 (7900m) at 8 pm on 19 May towards the summit. When they arrived at 8600m at about 4:45 am NST on 20 May, at that point Lhakpa Gelu told Bernhard that they have to stop there as weather is getting bad and they will not have enough time to go to the summit and to return in time because there were many climbers ahead of them. While turning back indeed cloud started covering the ridge and became white-out. They reached Camp 2.5 around 6:30 am and it was difficult to get there. Keogh left (BC) expedition on 29 April as his hands were getting very cold and also had low grade fever associated with dry cough. |
