Route Notes They reached the summit at 5:50 am (NST) on May 23 from C3. Started at 9 pm on May 20. Spent about 30 minutes in the summit, cleaning the summit and taking pictures. They brought down banners and prayer flags. People from the Seven Summits Adventure Group were ahead of him on the summit. Then descended to C1 (8 pm) and slept there. On May 22, went down to ABC (7 am-8:30 am) slept there. On May 25, reached base camp. He claims to be the first person from the Nepali Sports Fraternity to make it to the summit; also the first person from Manang district. Mr. Gurung successfully climb the world highest 8848m peak Mount Everest on 21st May 2011 with the seven members of team. With Mr. Gurung they were Pemba Dorji Sherpa (12 times Mt Everest climber, Guinness Book of World Records holder), Phurba Tenzing Sherpa (5 times Mt. Everest Climber), Mingma Sherpa (4 times Mt. Everest Climber), Dawa Kipa Sherpa (4 Times Mt. Everest Climber), Nawang Phuti Sherpa (2 times Mt. Everest Climber) and Jungbu Sherpa (1st time Mt. Everest Climber) [Note: Dawa Kipa and Mingma Tshering were attached to Bangladesh (Mohit) expedition.] Mount Everest Cleaning Expedition (www.nocnepal.org.np/index.php?listId=85) Today 26 May 2011 President of Nepal Olympic Committee Mr. Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan felicitated Mr. Chhim Urkyen Gurung, Treasurer of Nepal Olympic Committee as well as President of Nepal Cycling Association on his successful Mount Everest cleaning expedition. On the auspicious occasion of felicitation program Secretary General Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha and executive members of NOC Nepal were also present. The program organized by Nepal Olympic Committee at Satdobato, Lalitpur. He reached at the highest peak in the World, Mt. Everest (8848m) on 21st May, 2011 at 5:50 am (NST). Mr. Gurung had commenced his expedition on 19th April, 2011. Along with him seven mountaineers of his Expedition also successfully conquer the summit. He is the first Executive Member of Nepal Olympic Committee to scale the world's highest summit. In his expedition, his team collected 150 kg of scattered garbage from the Mt. Everest.
