Route Notes The three members of Trek On-Lines's group seemed to be two semi-independent parties, Ms Lamoureux and her Sherpa Pasang Nuru, and the two "Frenchmen", De Molinari and Domenech with their two Sherpas, Pemba Jangbu and Pemba Nuru. They arrived at BC together, but higher on the mountain, the Frenchmen were one day behind Ms. Lamoureux. Lamoureux and her Sherpa, Pasang Nuru, had intended to go to the summit from C2, so they started using oxygen from C1, but because of the weather conditions, they pitched a third high camp. The result was that their oxygen supply ran out before they could press on to the top. They pitched C3 at 8270m on 20 May, and this turned out to be the highest point they reached. Very strong winds blew up and stranded them there for 21 hours, and in the end they had no oxygen supply. When they managed to retreat to C1 at the North Col (7050m) on the 22nd, they decided to abandon the climb because conditions were not good enough to continue. They descended to ABC on the 23rd and to BC the next day. It turned out that they had reached the expedition's high point. De Molinari and Domenech, with their two Sherpas, had left C1 at 7:00 am on the 20th to go up to C2, but at 1:00 pm the wind storm with snow hit them at 7700m [8000m according to De Molinari] and they retreated to C1. They now abandoned their climb, were back in ABC on the 21st and in BC on the 22nd. The six climbers, intending to go to the summit from C2, started using oxygen from C1, but Lamoureux and Pasang Nuru made a C3 because of the weather conditions, and individual supplies of all six of them ran out before they could press on to the top. Sherpas: Pasang Nuru, 17/5/74, Bupsa, Jubing-5, Solu, Everest X4 (including a north-south traverse in 2007), Cho Oyu X1, Makalu X1 Pemba Jangbu, 16/2/86, Bupsa, Jubing-5, Solu, Everest X1, Makalu X1 Pemba Nuru (Kaila), 3/2/73, Pare, Everest X3, Lhotse X1, Makalu X1 Thierry De Molinari - March 2012 (email to Billing Bierling) BC(05/05,5200m),ABC(12/05,6400m),C1(19/05,7000m),C2(20/05,8000m),xxx Departed C1 (7000m) at 7 am on 20 May and stopped at 8000m at 1:30 pm due to midday storm. Storm lasted until 3:00 am on 21 May. They returned to ABC at 4:00 pm on 21 May. They did not use oxygen or Sherpas. Another reason for abandoning their summit bid was the death of a Ukranian climber from another team.
