Route Notes The objective of this expedition was to put up two poles to measure humidity, temperature, wind direction, solar radiation, etc., which was organized by the Pyramid Science Station near Lobuche. The team reached the South Col for the first time on 18 May and set up the equipment on 19 May. They worked there for about eight hours without using supplementary oxygen. It was a good day as there was no wind. They were also going to put a smaller sensor for the same measurements on the summit, however, during their first mission to the South Col they did not have the sensor with them, so they descended to BC on 19 May. On 25 May, they ascended again, stayed one night at C2 and on 26 May, then ascended back to the South Col. On 27 May, they tested the sensor, which was supposed to go the summit on South Col, for about three hours; however, they discovered that some improvements had to be made to the sensor so they decided to take it back down to the Pyramid. On 27 May they descended all the way to the Pyramid the same day. As the main objective of of this expedition was to set up the measuring station, Nardi and Bernasconi did not prioritize the summit. They would have liked to try without oxygen after having put up the station, however, the weather did not allow it. Oxygen: Taken and used from C3 to South Col by Nardi Bernasconi and Nardi slept on oxygen at C4.
