Route Notes Jirel started his summit bid on 20 May to C1; 21 May to C2; reached C3 on 22nd May. He left C3 at 7:45 pm NST and reached the top at 3:35 am on 23 May. He stayed on summit for 2 hours 25 minutes waiting for the Sherpa friend who was with other expedition to take his photos. At 4 am one foreigner and 3 Sherpas came up from south side. From north side ahead of Jirel there were seven climbers including Sherpas were on the summit. Behind Jirel there were maybe 50/60 climbers. Jirel descended to C3 around 2 pm where he rested for about an hour, then to C2 at about 5:30 pm. Spent night at C2. Next day to ABC. The weather on summit day ws clear. His expenses were borne by [Jirel Association] Nepal. He is General Secretary of the Association. Jirel returned to Kathmandu on 29 May. Jirel said that there were three dead on north side: Hungarian, Japanese and French.
