Route Notes All members except Einolander, the video editor confined to BC, left for the top from C4 between 8:30 and 9:30 pm on 22 May. Two members turned back: Herbert got to 8700m developed cerebral edema at 9:30 am on the 23rd, was escorted down by his Sherpa Dorje and Phil Crampton to C4 that day, to C2 on the 24th, and picked up from C2 on the 25th by a helicopter which flew him to Kathmandu. He was diagnosed as suffering from edema, hypoxia and complete exhaustion. He left Nepal on 4 June. Watroba reached the South Summit with Lhakpa Tshering and Temba Bhote at 11:00 am on 23 May. She decided it was too late for her to get to the top and return safely, and weather conditions were deteriorating with cloud cover developing. The three returned to C4 at 5:00 pm. The first to reach the summit were Crampton and Pasang Nima, who got there at 7:00 am on 23 May. Justinen and Chhedar summited at 8:12 am, Hyrylainen, Stuckley, Pasang Wangchu and Nima Nuru at 8:15 am; and Gernez and Pasang Dawa finally at 10:00 am. All summiters returned to C4 for the night, arriving there between 12 noon to 6:00 pm. It was Crampton who came in last because he had been helping to get Herbert into camp. Oxygen was used by all members from C3 to their high points to C2, and by all Sherpas from C3 to high points to C3.
