Route Notes C1 at North Col C2 at 7500m (C2 moved to 7700m on 22 May). The team placed C2 at 7500m originally (on 23 April), but it was moved on 22nd May 200m higher and thus closer to C3's site at 8300m. All members except Kobler and Rittler were in the summit party. Kobler was not because a Sherpa had fumbled with his backpack at C2 and it fell from there to the bottom of North Face; it had contained his down suit. Rittler had already left the team on 20th April; he had not been well, and got to only ABC on the 18th. The summit party of six members and seven Sherpas left C3 for the top on the 23rd at 9:30 pm (NST) and reached the summit on 24th May at 6:00 am (by Huesser), 6:14 (by Contreras and Gonzalez), and 6:35 (by the other members). It was snowing constantly but warm from C3 to the summit, then it stopped snowing but was cloudy and slightly windy. All members except Contreras and Gonzalez descended to C1 that day; Contreras, Gonzalez and all Sherpas except Tenji continued down to ABC. The rest of the party went to ABC the next day. Oxygen was used by all summit-party members except Huesser and Blauensteiner from C2 (at 7700m) to the top to C2. Huesser used it from C3 to the top to C3; Blauensteiner from C1 to the top to C1. The Sherpas used it from C3 to the top to C3.
