Route Notes Summit: Cardona, Avila, Phu Dorje on 17th May at 11:20 am. Summit team left C3 at 9:30 pm on 16th May. The night started off being windy, however, the wind died down later. Cardona, who has a prosthesis, did not have any problems going up, however, coming down was quite difficult and he needed a lot of help. On the way up, Avila ran out of oxygen on the South Summit, but he carried on to the summit without. They spent about 20 minutes on the summit and started the descent. Due to Cardona's problems with the prosthesis they were very slow coming down. Avila carried on down without oxygen, however, Phu Dorje found an oxygen bottle on the South Summit on the way down that was not entirely empty, so Avila used it. It only lasted a couple of hours. They arrived back at C4 at about 8:30 pm where Ruiz was waiting. Ruiz did not carry on to the summit on 16th May due to breathing problems. He suffered from pneumonia a few months before he went to Everest and at C4 he had similar symptoms, so he decided to stay there and wait for the summit team to return. On 18th May, they descended to C2 and on on 19th back to base camp. Henao reached 7700m on 16th May. He was not feeling well that day; his body felt numb. He left C3 using oxygen, however, as the numbness in his body did not go away, he turned back and descended to C2. Oxygen: Avila from C4 to 8450m and after that on and off to C4 Cardona from C4 to summit to C4 Henao from C3 to 7700m to C3 Ruiz from C3 to C4 to C3 Phu Dorje from C4 to summit to C4 Sherpas: Phu Dorje/Fu Dorjee Sherpa, Phortse, 7/12/75, Everest X2 (with Koreans), Cho Oyu X1
