Route Notes Summit: 17 May by Bird, Lhakpa Gelu and Lobsang at 9 am (CST). Bird, Lhakpa Gelu and Lobsang left C2 on 16th May at 5 pm Nepali time. It was windy (about 20 knots) but clear when they set off. The reason why they summited from C2 was that Lobsang was not able to go to C3 the previous day to put up camp. As the weather window was very small, they did not have enough time to go to C3 for another night, so they tried from C2. The team reached C3 at 10 pm. They met the Chinese team in their camp, but did not stop and carried on straight to the summit. They reached the top at about 9 am Chinese time (6:45 am NST). They spent about 15 minutes on top, then descended to C2, where they arrived at about 9 pm (NT). On 18th May, they descended to ABC. Bird, Lhakpa Gelu and Lobsang used oxygen from 7600m (C2) to the top and back to C2. They also slept on it. Fisher reached 7000m (North Col) on 22 April. He was not feeling well that day. He went back to ABC and rested there for two days. On 26th April, Bird and Fisher descended to Chinese Base Camp and stayed there for eight days. Fisher was trying to make up his mind whether to stay or not. He decided to abandon the expedition as he had some health issues (eye infection) and left BC on 30th April. Hoshino reached Chinese BC Camp at 5200m on 12th April. He had a severe toothache and a dentist at BC told him that he had a huge hole in his tooth. On 16th April, he went to Shegar to have it treated, but never came back to BC. Sherpas: Lhakpa Gelu, Kharikhola, Jubing-1, 23/06/07 (World Record Speed Ascent Holder) Lobsang, Kharikhola, Jubing-1, 27/06/85, summited Everest on 15/5/07
