| Route Notes | The two Americans arrived in C2 on 27 April and spent two nights there. On the 28th Nima Tashi went up to the site for C3 at 7300m, then all of them descended to BC on the 29th. On 4 May, Slaughter and Nima Tashi moved up to C1 and on the 5th to C2. On the 6th they walked over to the bottom of Lhotse's West Face, where their route led next. Back in BC on the 7th, Slaughter said that he was too weak to continue and his climb was finished. He was a very light eater and simply had no strength left. On the 10th, the team went from BC to Pangboche; the next day a helicopter picked up Slaughter and took him to Kathmandu. The same afternoon he flew to Bangkok. Williams stayed at Pangboche to wait for the gear to come down. On the 15th he hitched a ride in another team's helicopter to Lukla and from there flew by scheduled flight to Kathmandu. Two Sherpas above base camp plus C2 cook. Team's high points: Sherpa - 7300m on 28 April Members - 6500m on 27 April Sherpa: Nima Tashi, 4/4/60, Pangboche, Everest X8 |
