Route Notes Contreras, Cool, Fiennes, Gonzalez, Kobold and Ugyan, plus seven Sherpas reached the summit on 21 May. Fiennes, who had arrived at C4 on the 19th, left for the summit at 8:00 pm on the 20th; all the other successful members left between 9:10 and 9:30 pm. Fiennes was the first member to the top at 5:00 am; and Cool, Kobold and Ugyan summited at 5:50 am. It was a cold and windy day. All were back in C4 by 11:40 am, and Contreras, Gonzalez and Fiennes continued down to C2 that day, while the other member stayed in C4 for the night. All were in BC on the 22nd and left the next day. Oxygen was used as follows: Fiennes started on it at BC, Cool and Kobold from C3 and Contreras, Gonzalez, Ugyan and the Sherpas from C4. In their descents, Contreras and Gonzalez used it to C2, Kobold down to the bottom of Lhotse's West Face (about 6800m), and the Sherpas to C4. Non-summiting members: Piper reached the bottom of the Lhotse Face; he left the mountain about 12 May. Todd went to C2.
